What is Functional Strength & Conditioning?

The functional strength and conditioning (S&C) approach you’ll see at Tectonic uses a variety of athletic domains including:

  • Long cardio endurance to faster intensity intervals

  • Raw strength, power output, and high rep muscle volume

  • Body awareness, agility, flexibility, and balance

You’ll do compound, multi-joint movements (better for fitness than isolation work). You will increase your general athleticism and improve your abilities in practical tasks of daily life, from carrying groceries to hiking in the beautiful PNW. We help you accomplish this by:

  • Lifting and throwing objects (powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, field events)

  • Running leaping and bounding (track events, trail running)

  • Increasing kinesthetic control and strength (plyometrics, gymnastics)

If you choose to workout here, you will experience functional S&C designed to build high-level fitness for folks from all walks of life: From first-time gym-goers to seasoned sports athletes; From teens to twenties; From middle to late stage adulthood.

You will join a group that shares a motivation to be more capable individuals — both in body and in mindset.
